Chronicles of Faith by Richard Roberts

ANNOUNCER: On tonight’s program, Chancellor and founders of Oral Roberts University, Oral and Evelyn Roberts.  Now let’s welcome our host, Richard and Lindsay Roberts.

RR: Hallelujah.  This is the Hour of Healing!  Hallelujah.  Well, go ahead and give the Lord praise.

RR: Hallelujah!  Come on, this is miracle night!  This is healing night!  This is the Hour of Healing.

LR: Yes, yes!  I agree in Jesus’ name.

RR: Praise God, Lindsay, last night when we got home, we were watching on Channel 53, watching “Chronicles of Faith,” which takes people way back into the tent crusade days with my father, Oral Roberts, and I saw my father Lindsay, I saw him last night on television, about the middle 1950s, I saw him say, “Lay your hand on my hand.”

LR: We did.

RR: And for the past few nights, I’ve been saying that, “Lay your hand on my hand,” and the miracle, healing testimonies that have been coming through the Abundant Life Prayer Group to us each night, well, it’s just been absolutely astounding what God is doing.

LR: You know

RR: The Bible still works today in your life. If you will attach your faith and set your faith in agreement with the Word of God, miracles will happen.  Glory to God.

LR: Remember how Jesse Duplantis kept saying the other night that there was so much heat.  He said, “Richard, I just keep feeling this heat.”  He said it was like a heat coming all over him.  He said, “Even my ears got hot.”  But he said the anointing had never felt like that before on him.  But the minute he sat down on this platform, he said the heat just came over him. We had a gentleman in our studio last night that said it just felt so hot in here.  The heat just came over him, and he said he went home and watched the replay of it at night and

RR: It replays in Tulsa about midnight.

LR: Uh-huh, and he put his hand up on the television when you said that, and he said, “The anointing right then started up with that heat again.”

RR: Praise God.

LR: And it’s amazing that even on the replays people are getting touched and delivered and set free.

RR: Lindsay

LR: There is no distance in prayer.

RR: That’s right.  Here’s BJ calling from Coweta from last night. “Richard…”  BJ said, “I was watching the program last night because I couldn’t sleep.”  Watching the replay late last night. “Something Good Tonight, the HOUR OF HEALING, was on.  Richard, you gave a word about someone with ringing in the ears being healed.”  BJ said, “I’ve had ringing in my ears, but after that word was given, the ringing is gone.  I am healed.”  Hallelujah.

LR: Praise the Lord.

RR: Mamie in Orlando. Remember the word I gave about fingers last night being healed?

LR: I do.

Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by Richard Roberts

RR: Hallelujah.

LR: And she said she knows the lady that’s called in with the testimony bending over with her back.

RR: Lindsay

LR: God is a healing God.

RR: last night after our program was over, we just wound up having a healing service in the room.

LR: We had a party.

RR: We laid hands on everybody that moved last night.

LR: My idea of a party is a healing line.  That’s a party to me.

RR: And Marilyn Hickey was here last night and gave an altar call, and two ladies who came from that hospital gave their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

LR: That’s a party!  That’s a party to me.  The world parties, but to me that’s a party.

RR: What’ve you got, Lynwood?

Lynwood Wells: Richard, last night you gave a word about a seven-year-old who was being healed

LR: Yes.

LW: of tonsillitis.

RR: I did, I did.

LR: And said, “Swallow,” remember that?

LW: And you said, “Swallow.”

RR: Yes.

LW: Well, we got this call that there was a seven-year-old in Grand Rapids, Michigan …

LR: It’s Michigan.  Hi!

LR: who was healed last night, and we just happened. We just called back to make sure she’s still healed.  We have both her and her mother on the line right now.  Would you like to speak to them?

RR: Is the mother’s name Jennifer, or is that the little girl’s name?

LW: The mother’s name is Jennifer.

RR: Jennifer, are you on the line?

Jennifer: Yes, I am.

RR: Are you in Grand Rapids?

Jennifer: Yes.

RR: Hi.

Jennifer: Hi.

RR: Come here, honey.  Were you watching last night when I gave that word of knowledge?

Jennifer: Well, you know, it was the strangest thing.  I was watching and I was also on the phone with a girlfriend.  We were praying together and praising the Lord, and you had mentioned something about a prolapsed heart valve.

RR: I did.

Completely Healed by Richard Roberts

JOHN: Well, I have a condition on my legs.  I’ve had swelling and cysts and tumors in my legs and sore that come on the outside that sometimes go clear to the bone.  And they’ve been real bad again, and it’s a condition that the doctors up in Indiana said was from Agent Orange.  They said

RR: Does this go back to when you were in the Vietnam war, John?

JOHN: Yes, sir.

RR: What happened when we prayed, John?

JOHN: Well, you had a word of knowledge that someone with a right leg, the swelling was going down, that they had tumors and sores on their leg, and that the swelling was going down and that the tumors were disappearing.  And immediately I felt a heat come on my legs, on both of them, and not just the right one the left one too.

RR: Both legs.

JOHN: Both legs.  And the sores are completely healed over now. There’s new skin over them, and you can’t feel the cysts anymore.

RR: Whooo!  Hallelujah. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

LR: Praise the Lord.

RR: John, we set our faith ablaze with that testimony.  There may be somebody else watching right now, you’ve got problems with your legs.  Just lay your hands on your legs last night.  Here’s John in Orlando, Florida, we’re talking to him live on television, a Vietnam veteran having this condition, and he said those things are just beginning to come off his legs.  God is no respecter of persons.  If He can do that for John in Orlando, He can do that for you.  And … go ahead, Lindsay.

LR: And in Jesus’ name, John, we say Nahum 1:9 to you, “Afflictions shall not rise up”

RR: A good word, a good word.

LR: “a second time.

RR: Good word.

LR: We call it done and finished in

RR: Good word.

LR: the name of Jesus.

RR: And I add my word of faith to Lindsay’s word of faith.  You who are having problems with your legs and something like that  maybe you’re a Vietnam veteran.  Anyone who is a Vietnam veteran, you need prayer tonight.  You need to get up and call the Abundant Life Prayer Group at 918-495-7777 and let us stand in faith in agreement with you in Jesus’ name for you to be well.  Maybe something went terribly wrong in your body or something else has happened because of your service to the United States through our military services.  Let us stand in faith and agreement with you in prayer.  And in the authority of Jesus’ name, whatever it is, I come into an agreement with you in Jesus’ mighty name for you to be healed.  Hallelujah.

John, I give praise to the Lord for what He’s done in your life, and I’m believing that God’s going to heal other veterans, maybe veterans from the Korean War, some other veteran from some other conflict in our history.  And I just set my faith in agreement with you.  John, praise the Lord, praise the Lord. You’ve got another one, Steve.

STEVE: We’ve got another praise report of a healing in a right ear as a result of a word of knowledge that you gave last night.

RR: Where is this … this is from

STEVE: This is from Ohio.

RR:  Ohio.  Who is this?  Pam.

STEVE:  on the line.

RR: Pam, are you on the line?

PAM: I am.

RR: Hello, Pam.

PAM: Hello.

LR: Isn’t technology wonderful?

PAM: Where are you in Ohio?

LR: It’s amazing.

PAM: Eaton.

RR: Eaton?

LR: Eaton.

RR: And what happened last night, Pam?

PAM: Well, you had given a word of knowledge, and I believe it was while Marilyn Hickey was praying.  And you had said something first about an ear lobe and so I

God has a miracle by Richard Roberts

We’re in the top, ranked in the top 30th in baseball right now.  We’re in the middle of our Midwestern City’s Conference right now.  We’re expecting to get a bid for the NCAA Tournament in baseball to be a witness for Jesus Christ through athletics.  You’re looking at the roof on top of the Learning Resources Center where most of the classes are held at ORU.  We need some repair work there.  That’s the chapel building where our lay seminar is beginning tonight.  We have about 1,200 to 1,500 people who will be coming in town today for our lay seminar which begins tonight and continues Friday, Saturday and closes on Sunday with my dad and me laying hands on all of our partners.  And there is Mabee Center there. We’re inside that building right now.

And we have some serious roof repair work to do on Mabee Center and some painting.  And we have some lights that we showed yesterday.  We have a lot that has to be done this summer.  And we need your help.  Will you pray about sowing a special Seed-Faith gift above and beyond your normal giving this month to help us with this repair work?  Would you pray about sowing a seed of $1,000 to help us toward the restoration, the restoring of ORU this summer, getting it back into the kind of shape that it needs to be in when the students come back?

Will you pray about sowing a seed of $500?  Will you pray about sowing a seed of maybe $100 or maybe $50 or $25?  Will you be a part of helping us here at ORU?  You know, Arlie, in your home if something breaks down in your home, you know, you’ve got to fix it.  You’ve got to take care of it.  And sometimes there’s a better time of the year to put it all together and get it fixed. Well, summertime is our time here at ORU.  We’ve got to do something and we’re doing it now.  We’ve ordered equipment. We’ve ordered materials and now all we’ve got to do is pay for it, Arlie.

SPKM ARLIE WHITLOW Well, I think everybody wants to help you too, Brother Richard.  We have four teenagers in our home and I want you to take care of Oral Roberts University real well and I want the folks to respond because I want them to come out here.  And I’ve never been here before, but we’re out scouting around looking for a place for our children to go to college.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, you’re looking at a good place.  Last year we remodeled the dormitories during the summer and the partners helped me to remodel the dormitories.  And now we’ve gota lot more that we need to do. You know, it’s an ongoing thing. It’s like your family, your family, you know, you’ve got things, you know, a child grows out of a pair of shoes and you’ve got to get a new pair of shoes, Lindsay.  You’ve got to keep going, got to keep things moving.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS That’s exactly right.  But, you know, the other day–I take Jordan for a walk all around here because she loves to walk around the campus. We have a duck pond and she likes to visit the ducks and all the things.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS And the swans.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS And coming down to see it, we were driving it this time and we came down and there was an enormous gush of water.  And we looked up and I said, “Richard, what in the world is that?”  And the entire cooling tower for the dormitories had–I don’t know if you’d say sprung a leak or it had just started flooding water out.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS That’s just two or three nights ago.

SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS And there’s nothing you can do but fix it. I mean, you cannot let the thing do the damage that it was doing to the rest of the campus when all this water came pouring out. And at the same time, there’s no air conditioning unless the cooling tower works right.  And I’ll tell you, when things break down you have no choice but to repair it.  And I praise God that we were able to repair the inside of the dorms last year.  But now we’ve got to do the outside work.  It seems like it’s never ending.  But God has a miracle.

We can do it by Richard Roberts

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS You remind me, one of the largest furniture dealers in this part of the country lives right here in Tulsa. And he said to my dad and me, “Whenever I get discouraged, I drive my car out onto the ORU campus and I get over in this Mabee Center parking lot just outside this building and I park my car and I just look around and I say, “Look at what faith did.  My business can go.  Look at what faith did.”  That’s what you’re saying.

SPKM ARLIE WHITLOW That’s accountability.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Yeah.

SPKM ARLIE WHITLOW That works.  And when a pastor can come here from Washington, D. C. and come out here–yesterday I walked all these grounds.  I went up in the City of Faith and I walked over here in the Mabee Center, went through all this, through the campus, and I could feel faith enter my bones.  And that’s what God’s using in this hour.  He’s using Oral Roberts University and Richard Roberts to inspire a whole lot of folks.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, Arlie, we need some special help this summer.  I want to  SU03 take you out on the campus in just a moment and show you some of the things that we’re doing.  You know, when the students are gone we do the maintenance and repair work at ORU during the summer because you can’t do a lot of things when school is on because you have students everywhere and faculty, and I guess when you get us all together there’s more than 5,000, maybe 5,500 of us.  And you can’t do the type of work that you can do when the summertime comes.  We only have from now until August to get this work done.  And I’ve been sharing with the people about some maintenance work and things that we’re doing.

And right now I want to take you out on the campus and show you some of the cooling towers and some of the things that are going wrong that’s got to be fixed.  In fact, right now you’re looking at one of the cooling towers that has a pretty good size leak in it, due to normal wear, rust, normal–you know, the normal, normal things happen.  There you can see one of the leaks.  It’s going to cost about $1,500 to $2,000 in repairs on this chiller, I guess they call it, air conditioning unit.  I’m not sure what building that’s for.  Oh, that’s for the aerobics center.  And then we go over to the main cooling towers for the campus buildings.  The insides of it are wearing out after years, and it’s going to cost us a great deal of money to do the reworking of the guts of this building.  You can see some of the leaks and things that have to be done and we go over to some of the chillers and cooling towers outside of the dormitories.

There’s one out there behind the four twin tower, quad tower dormitories, as we call them.  There are some major leaks and problems, going to cost thousands of dollars to do this work this summer.  We have, we have buildings that we have to put some new roofs on.  We’ve been doing some painting.  We’re getting ready to pain the Classroom Building.  You’re looking at it right now. We’ve got to paint this building.  And we have students that are working this summer.  We need some money.  We’ve got the paint coming, but we’ve got to pay for it all.  And this is the Johnston Baseball Stadium, and we need to patch the roof, repair the roof, going to take $27,000 to do the work on this roof in our baseball stadium.
